Eats shoots & leaves - eheu! Alas! The New Blogger Interface

Well folks....salvete! Hello!

Sorry about the latest hiatus (delay/pause) in my blog posts. I promise and then I don't deliver. (Flippin' horrendous!) I don't like doing that but sometimes Life gets in the way.

I'm in the process of transferring stuff from one house to another (the Guest House). When it's all completed I'm hoping normal service will be resumed...

In the meantime....

Having played around with the new Blogger Interface and its different layouts...I have kept (perhaps a tad boringly) my 'old' look. Hey! I'm nothing if not keen on all things historical!!!!

'Blogger' has already riled me because its grammar is suspicious to say the very least. Within minutes of me clicking on the new design element/interface I noticed that they, the designers, have written the following:

Hadriana's Treasures's blogs

Spot the deliberate (or not so deliberate) mistake?

Answers on the back of a postcard please (or a writing tablet for that matter).....

I think I am turning into Lynne Truss and on that note..I do declare that Blogger eats shoots & leaves (me cold) too!

What do you think, O Fellow Bloggers, of the new Blogger Interface?

PS: I am incredibly sorry but I cannot display ' My followers' on my blog as the Gadget simply will not work - in any shape or form. I'll keep trying occasionally to see if it will work....! :-)

I loathe the new interface...so cold and unfriendly.

It's like St. James's Park then?

Hi Fly,
Hi Clippy,

Bleurghh! or should that be 'Bleurghus maximus' ? ! !

There are some interesting things there - but not for me. I just wish they would stop tinkering with things...and at least get their grammar right. Thanks for commenting. Catherine :-) xx

Those darned apostrophes! Drive me mad! A sign I saw recently said: Hells' Kitchen. The thought of more than one Hell is quite fearful enough without the grammar catastrophe!

I had a quick whizz at the new blogger and decided it wasn't an improvement - or at least, it wasn't necessary for me. I need a little more time on it for a definitive decision.

Me again!
Saw this, and thought of you!

Not a grammar error, I admit, but astonishing nevertheless!

Don't like the look of those blogs that pop the post page out at you. Made me want to throw up, or should I say vomitare.
Ah, us convent graduates and our Latin jokes!

Good to hear about this new interface. I can't access it anyway without some new application, so I can't even test it. None of the layouts on offer seem to match the feeling that I've enjoyed creating for my blog. I don't want them messing with Lady Mondegreen's apostrophe either! I'm wondering if they have let things slip with the old format, while they work on the new, as some formatting details don't work as they used to.

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me being resistant to change. I tried the new Blogger interface but I lost all my pretty templates and ended up with something that was horribly sterile, so no thanks Blogger

Blimus! You'd think they could cope with a wee bit of punctuation. I had a look at the new interface but it was so bleak and cold I went straight back to the old one.

Hi Catharine,

I'm laughing a lot about Hells' kitchen - maybe they were thinking of Dante. Although he still had one Hell but nine circles within it.
I've nicked this link from Melvyn Braggs's "In Our Time" prog. info.:

Dante’s ‘Inferno’ - a medieval journey through the nine circles of Hell. “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here"]

I'm not surprised by your link to BBC story - 'Keep Klear' - nothing surprises me in the slightest now. A long time ago someone told me about this sign: "KEY POUT!"

So I am still abandoning hope...

I'm fighting with Blogger now...so..am now able to say - Thanks Catharine!

Hi expatmum - like the 'vomitare' joke. You and (hello!) Lady Mondegreen, Fly, Alienne, Wylye Girl have all hit the nail on the head: it is cold and impersonal. I think it is trying to emulate WordPress of which I quite like the look. I did peak into WordPress recently but got frightened. It looks a tad complicated...so am asking for technical support in some quarters. If anyone has tried it - be pleased to hear your thoughts.

I like Blogger as it is so straightforward and that is why I have stuck with it. In 2008 at the Edinburgh Book Festival a very nice IT guy recommended WordPress back then as it is a more stable platform. It does have that cleaner look but can look impersonal at the same time. I'm still dithering.

Think I will keep Blogger for this blog and use WordPress for new site if I can actually sort out how it works!!! Thanks for all your comments and feedback - Catherine :-) xx xx xx

That should be 'peek' and not 'peak'. Oh Jupiter! I am falling into the Keep Klear trap myself! Time for a coffee....

Old look is best - definitely. the new looks are not ready yet.

And I'm going for a private view of the Leonardo show on Thursday - that's a good 'old' look too I reckon

Funny you should mention that Mark about super duper da Vinci....we have got that one 'pencilled in' too. Can't wait to see it - the critics are all raving about it. It'll be rare to see so many of his works together in one place again.

When I was 14 I saw his 'Last Supper' in Milan (obviously) in situ. Splendid stuff - would like to go and view it again. I was at school in Italy at the time and it was a tremendous honour to be part of the whole Italian cultural experience.

Wishing you a good viewing! :-) C/H

I liked one of the new designs and thought I'd give it a try but it distorts all my photos. That's not much use!

Hadriana's Treasures said...

NB: Maybe 'Gollum' too. " My treasures'ssssssss"...........! ;-)

Heather: Distorting your wonderful photos - impossible. No - that certainly wouldn't work. :-)

What a busy summer you've had!
I had a look at the new blogger designs but wasn't confident enough to change anything in case it all went wrong, especially when our computer is ill.

Hadriana's Treasures said...

Hello Sandi,

You're grand too! ;-)

Yes - why is change necessary?????

Hello sweet C. I hope you are doing well - as for the new interface, I've been away for so long from blogging that I cannot recall how it used to be x

Hi FF,

Apologies for not getting back to you for a couple of days. Just snowed under with work. Hoping that I can resurrect this blog soon as it is like Snow White after a bite of that not-so-nice apple. Hope you are well. Many thanks for your lovely comment. Hope to catch up with you here or elsewhere. ;-) Cxx
